Nelson and Sons, Edinburg, MDCCCLX (1860) A Rare First Edition in an Even Rarer Book Prize Binding- gilded leather and gilded page edges with sewn in silk bookmark- all far superior to the mass marketed cloth bound version. This may well a one of a kind book.<br><br>Small Blind Impression on face page: J. Galt & Co, Bookseller to the Queen, Manchester<br>Inscribed: First Prize for Good Conduct, Awarded to George E Hasell Xmas 1863 Mo. P. Pirmiu (sp?), M.A.<br>Front Plate Embossed and Gilded: Palmam Qui Meruit Ferat – latin translates to “let whoever earns the palm bear it.”<br>Back Plate Embossed and Gilded: Dane Bank House Congleton.<br>Book is in very good condition with tight bindings, well conserved leather cover and gilding, some foxing through-out but very readable with fold-out map intact and all the illustration coverings in place as well.
